great write up for such a beautiful (& what I think is an often overlooked city [at least by Australians]) - and if I may, for anyone in the comments who sit in the centre of a football and good wine and food Venn diagram, across the street from Bologna FC's stadium is a killer spot called enoteca dei pigri
This is wonderful but two weeks too late for me! We were in Bologna (also Verona, Ravenna, Rimini & Polignano from 7th -26th July. We travel by train from Verona to end up in Polignano for a wedding on 18th, then paid a visit to Matera. & Alberobello. We were a bit underwhelmed by Alberobello as it seemed very touristy, such a shame I hadn’t got your guide.
We’ve got 5 days in Palermo Sicily in September so hoping for some tips, please.
Ahimè needs to be removed as a good restaurant. I went there in April after seeing rave reviews and was beyond disappointed at the quality of everything except the bread and one of my dinner companions got food poisoning. Ask a local and they will tell you to stay away. Also, unlike most of the restaurants there, it was really expensive.
