A perfect Italian day at the Lake by Alessandro:
Now, here’s my idea of the perfect relaxing day on the lake — a chance to truly soak in the peace and beauty of Lake Como:
Morning:
Of course waring up at Cà Spiga with this view:
And then enjoying a beautiful breakfast on the Terrace:
After having breakfast rent a Vespa scooter to feel like a real local and ride north from Cà Spiga, keeping to the right side to explore the charming small villages along the lake. Make a quick stop in Brienno, one of the most authentic spots, famous for its beautiful stone arches and lakeside houses.
Midday:
Continue on to Colonno, park the Vespa, and take a walk along the Greenway of Lake Como — a stunning path that reveals some of the lake’s best views and hidden gems.
Halfway through, pause in Lenno and catch the shuttle boat that runs through the central lake area. Hop on and off in picturesque villages like Bellagio and Varenna.
Hop off again at Tremezzo and treat yourself to a drink at the iconic Gran Hotel Tremezzo by their floating pool. For lunch, I recommend Russall Hotel just above Tremezzo — I adore its vintage vibe and authentic food.
Afternoon:
A visit to the botanical garden of Villa Carlotta is always a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
Evening:
Catch the bus back to Colonno to retrieve your Vespa, then ride back to Laglio. Before calling it a day, stop for a lovely aperitivo at Da Luciano — a perfect way to end your Italian day by the lake.
Brought back lots of wonderful memories of my trip to Lake Como and Bellagio. Dreamy and tranquil.
However, I see a smartphone at the breakfast table... ;-)
